Morse Code Activity

Morse Code Activities Industrial Revolution

This activity has students use an online or paper resource to create a message in Morse Code.  Students then Have to share their message with a class partner.  Students use the chart on the back of the paper to decipher and transcribe each others coded messages.

The message must resemble a note sent back home to a family member describing their new life as a factory worker in the big city during the industrial revolution.

There are three versions of this activity:

The regular activity has students create a written Morse code message to be transcribed by a classmate. (Requires a device and internet connection)

The advanced activity has students send an audio Morse code message to be transcribed by a classmate.

(Requires a device and internet connection)

The old school activity does not require a device or internet.  Students use the chart on the page to create their message by hand as well as to transcribe each others messages.
